A light-hearted spin on One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, with a group of inmates from a psychiatric hospital slipping the leash while on a day trip to New York. Michael Keaton, in the year he became a superstar in Batman, has a role here that gives him the chance to do what he does best — the silver-tongued, lovable rogue. He also benefits from a gallery of accomplished supporting players, most notably an anally retentive Christopher Lloyd and Peter Boyle as the reformed advertising executive with a Christ complex. Director Howard Zieff makes an occasional attempt at seriousness, but, for the most part, keeps the laughs flowing smoothly.

Enjoyable sentimental comedy that avoids most of the pitfalls of its subject matter.
Loved, loved, loved this movie! When four psychiatric patients are abandoned in New York after crooked cops attack their therapist, they must solve the crime to prove their innocence.
What ensues is a buddy movie with hilarious consequences as a schizophrenic (Michael Keaton), an obsessive compulsive (Christopher Lloyd), a Jesus fanatic (Peter Boyle) and an almost catatonic individual try to blend into the Big Apple.
A great comedy that leaves a smile on your face after watching:)

This is a gem of a movie - predictable in some ways yes, but still very enjoyable. A group of patients from an mental hospital are taken out for the day. Things go awry and mayhem ensues with hilarious results. Christopher Lloyd, Michael Keaton and pals give superb performances... not too over the top, and very funny indeed. A movie to be enjoyed by all ages. I found it so good I bought the DVD.
