Quiet, thoroughly tasteful account of a part-Cherokee boy (Joseph Ashton) struggling to come to terms with the white man's world when he goes to live with his grandparents in 1930s America. James Cromwell adds suitable moral authority to a moving tale which is occasionally a touch too reverential. Based on the novel by Forrest Carter, which was originally regarded as autobiographical before the author was revealed as a former white supremacist.
This was a film that you would see on Channel 5 on a Monday afternoon. Story of how Americans treated the native American, and one little boys upbringing. Nice heart warming film if you like that sort of thing other wise I think you will find it very dull.
Disk played will with no problems
The book is excellent, so I was keen to watch the film. It translated well onto the screen.
