The Enforcer Details

An early attempt by Jet Li to move on from the historical martial arts epics which made his name into more western-friendly action roles, this is a proficient but unconvincing thriller. Playing a Beijing cop who goes undercover to infiltrate a Hong Kong crime syndicate, Li's dazzling fight skills are well to the fore. However, the dubbing is atrocious and the amount of screen time given over to the precocious Tse Miu, who plays his adoring son, introduces an unwelcome dose of sentimentality into the proceedings.
