    [Highly rated reviewer]

If like me you want to find out how Andy Serkis' acting is doing these days, look no further than this film.

Andy plays bad boy Ricky. Nothing apeases Ricky so in a 'senseless crime' seen by Dennis(Jonny lee Miller) as his whole life is blown apart.

This film basically is set within the confides of the uk prison system.

Escaping seems easy for Dennis, who takes on a new identity and seemingly a new personality.

He doesnt want to 'forget' and takes unbelievable steps to again come face to face with his wife's killer.

If you enjoy prison films then this maybe your escape from reality....

  • Good film

Hadn't heard of this film before I saw it, and was very impressed. The synopsis of this film is wrong, he does not come home to find his wife has been murdered, he is there at the time and does everything he can to prevent the murder, but to no avail.

Whilst very violent, and at some stages a little far fetched, it is, nevertheless worth a look.

I recently saw this movie at a friends house and was surprised by it. I really liked the idea of the film which is about a guy whose pregnant wife is killed by a robber who attacks them in their own home.

After going through the legal justice system he decides that the guy who killed his wife should not get away with it. He makes it his personal mission to get sent to jail himself so he can eventually catch up with his wifes killer and exact revenge.

Great british film, great plot and good acting.

Again Jodhi May is great. She seems to be one of those good actressess who slips through the radar.

  • Ace British prison thriller

Don’t listen to this other crazy person saying this film is a waste of time.

Whilst it’s not on the level of 'Shawshank redemption' it certainly sits with some of the better prison films.

Convincing acting, great plot, tasty chunks of action and a really nasty bad guy. And above all, it’s British!

It won’t change your world, but it will leave you satisfied of an evening.

One word of advice, it is pretty violent in places and wouldn’t be a good film for your granny or pregnant wife.

    Enjoy,

I was looking forward to this after seeing Andy Serkis was cast, and Johnny Lee Miller is good in some stuff, but I was generally disappointed.

Serkis' character is very pointless and has no depth at all, and Lee Miller's 'John Watt' gets more and more unlikable with every scene.

However, there are some interesting ideas, and the ending is rather pleasing, but I generally wouldn't waste your time.

    Just watch Shawshank again.
