Sex and the City movie 'back on'

Speculation over whether a movie version of New York drama series Sex and the City increased today as it was claimed the project is due to start filming this autumn. Mario Cantone - who played gay stylist Anthony Marantino in the show but previously starred in Mousehunt and Quiz Show - told MTV that director Michael Patrick King had asked him whether he was available for the film later in the year. Following this week's news that Dreamgirls and ex-American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson is to star in the big screen version of Sex and the City, a release date for the movie has been announced. Negotiations for a film adaptation of television series Sex and the City have begun again, after originally stalling two years ago. The series, about four professional and fashion-conscious women in Manhattan, ran for six years and starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Catrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. A forthcoming film starring Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker is to open a US conference on race, it emerged this week. Spinning Into Butter stars Parker as a college dean who becomes embroiled in an investigation into a racial crime. She also produced the movie.
