This is a taut, crisp and suspenseful film noir with a terrific climax in an amusement park. There are several points of interest beyond the
main plot, such as the picture which Ann Sheridan's character begins to get of the husband she thought had stopped loving her and the marriage she thought was over. This has been neglected for too long, and it's good to see it take its place among better known examples of the genre. It's a pity the print wasn't a bit sharper, but that's a minor gripe.- Was this review helpful to you?

(3)Very poor quality print
By MiMufan (31 reviews) , 13 May 2012The quality of the print was so poor as to be unwatchable. A great shame, as it sounded to be quite a good film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Don't run away from this thriller!
By Christinekay (29 reviews) from Southampton , 27 Mar 2010Frank Johnson accidentally witnesses a murder whilst out walking his dog one night. Although the police want him to testify against the killer, he flees from them and they are left to try and persuade his wife, Eleanor, to find him so that the murderer can be brought to justice.
Eleanor shows very little concern about her husband at first, but things gradually change ...
This is an excellent thriller that deserves to be better known. There are several twists and turns in the plot, and, moreover, there is a more personal level to the film in that Eleanor discovers more and more about Frank and begins to change her mind.
There is pleasing use of real life locations in the film and it is good to see Ann Sheridan in the role of the (at first) hard bitten wife. This is a much better thriller than some of the more well-known ones of the era. It provides a great deal for its 76 minutes running time.- Was this review helpful to you?
