Well worth watching, I viewed it twice and enjoyed it more the second time around. Quite dark and thought provoking. Robin Williams is on top form and its good to see him moving away from lighthearted comedy.

Classic SciFi where a technological idea is introduced and the impact on Humanity is explored. Don't expect action, gadgets, or special effects. This is a story about human nature, power, right and wrong, sin and death. Worth a look.

  • A bit disappointing

I felt this film could have been so much better. The concept behind it had the potential to be really exciting and there were some good bits in the film. But I thought the ending was a bit lame.

Anyone can buy memory implants (like microchips to record memories) for their kids to reveal to them at age of 21 that anything bad or unsavory can be erased to help them live and die to go to afterlife with wholesome history of themselves. Cutter has the last word in editing the implant. However, what happens when your parents die before you reach 21 without telling you? That and other issues are explored in this perhaps slightly low key but nevertheless very interesting science fiction that will keep you watching, at least if you like science fiction.

  • Really good concept

I really enjoyed the concept of this film and I just love Robin Williams. I felt the film could have been longer as it seemed to just end without being the end if you get what I mean. Although yes it is dark it does show true reality that some peoples true realities are shrouded by cover-ups and only the victims know what they are really like. Robin Williams, as usual, is brilliant in this role. I would recommend this film.

Oh dear. What a concept: dark and philosophical; sci-fi undertones; dystopian future affecting the root of human relationships; a real opportunity to make a film that turns the mirror on to human life.

If it had been done well, you could have forgiven the heavy-handed direction, the meandering plot, the performances, and (bizarrely, for a film about editing) the astonishing editing gaffs.

But the end result is clunky, unrealistic, and awful. If you could watch the footage of your own life, you would definitely edit these 90 minutes out.
