The Fly

Prepare yourself to witness a fusion of man and insect that has to be experienced to be believed! Dr Seth Brundle plays fast and loose with the laws of nature. Experimenting with "live" matter transmission. The day comes to test the ultimate guinea pig... himself! But that's the day the fly gets into the works and his DNA, genes and molecules are interwoven with that of the insect. Brundle watches helplessly as he is transformed step by step into a living, grotesque mutant - incredibly agile, super strong and driven by insane appetites he cannot control.

With a touch more imagination and a little less saccharin, this fledgeling version of Alan Parker's Birdy could have been one of the best family films of the eighties, but writer/director Nick Castle couldn't resist the flights of fancy that hijack the action. It's a touching tale about an autistic boy whose attempts to fly from the roof of his house attract the attention of a girl who has moved to the neighbourhood after her father's suicide. Jay Underwood and Lucy Deakins are splendid as the teenage friends, while Bonnie Bedelia and Colleen Dewhurst provide sympathetic adult support.

    Pornographic trash

What a terrible movie. Dont bother unless you like your horror movies to have pornoghraphy in them!! Try the original black and white version, much classier, much better.

    gruesome story

I think some of the other reviews are being a bit harsh here. The Fly was awsome in it's day and cinema goers were repulsed by it's storyline. For gross factor alone it's definetly worth watching and some of the images stay in your head a long time. Jeff Goldblum always looks scarey anyway! It can't be compared to the original classic which in my mind was incredibly corny anyway.

    Monsters vs Aliens

    • 30 Mar 2009

Watch out! Another bloated, over-produced, high-concept monstrosity has escaped from the labs at Dreamworks Animation, and it’s out to devour your kids. But don’t be too alarmed. Monsters vs Aliens is fairly harmless – a toothless satire with a kneejerk female empowerment message and a sorry excuse for a plot. Bubblegum feminist Reese Witherspoon lends her voice and her stature to Susan Murphy, first seen in a little white bridal gown digesting the disappointing news that her Read more
