Intresting to see this comical movie with some pretty far fetched moments, but not as bad as i thought it would be having read some reviews.- Was this review helpful to you?

(5)Waste of a title
By anyone (7 reviews) , 14 Nov 2012Tne bigest load of rubbish produced on a DVD-YUK.
The sound track is useless and has to be set on the high level to be able to distinguish what they are saying-however this may be a saving grace as their dialogue is not worth listening to. Total waste of a choice-DO NOT ORDER IT!!!!!!
Good ridance on its return.

The Fortune
By a customer from North of Watford , 18 May 2010The 1920s in USA seem well recreated in this Mike Nichols film. Farce is a tricky genre (comedy without serious moments) but Mr Nichols pulls it off OK. Warren Beatty plays the handsome cad, Jack Nicholson is his scruffy stooge, and Stockard Channing is the heiress-to-be who falls into their clutches. Ms Channing is superlative and should have gone on to become a bigger star. Its mainly thanks to her that the film is so enjoyable. The period song I Must Be Dreaming plays over the opening credits and is performed by an unidentified singer I bet thats her too.- Was this review helpful to you?

Disappointing
By CanadianKen (15 reviews) from Weybridge , 09 Feb 2009The Fortune is a very disappointing film given its lead actors and director. It just goes to show that the 1970s may not have been the great glory years that a few recent books have suggested. The plot gets a little creaky and far fetched but Nicholson, Beatty and Channing are always eminently watchable. There are also beautiful recreations of 1920s America. Worth watching for students of the period but not essential.- Was this review helpful to you?

Rather silly
By a customer from Isle of Man, British Isles , 24 Apr 2006Sometimes you order a dvd because the cast piques your interest and you wonder if it is any good. Overall, a rather silly film which I only kept watching in the hope that it improved. Rather disappointed as it starred Warren Beatty and Jack Nicholson and was expecting more.- Was this review helpful to you?
