Fantastic film, filled with hilarious moments from start to finish, contrasted with some sadness and seriousness. The dole queue scene has to be one of the classic scenes of the 90's.

  • Classy comedy that spawned many imitations

This is a funny and engaging story of a group of former steel workers trying to reclaim their dignity by taking all their clothes off.

A great story exploring some important themes, but it never feels didactic or preachy - this is a film with soul, compassion and lots of great jokes.

  • A poignant social commentary

Despite the title, there is very little full or even partial nudity in this film. Stripping off for cash, is simply an (improbable) example of what lengths people will go to, to make ends meet after the rug’s been pulled from under their feet. A group of Sheffield steelworkers are made redundant. The movie is a social commentary inviting us to reflect on the effect of such a scenario upon the workers themselves; but also upon their partners, families, relationships and homes. A moving and thought-provoking tale and, thankfully, the high emotion is relieved by moments of zaniness and slapstick. It’s a bit like ‘Brassed Off’ - but without the brass band soundtrack.
