Prehistoric mammoth-masher 10,000 BC has trampled the opposition to take the number one spot at the UK box office, new figures from Nielsen show. The film, which is narrated by screen legend and Dr Zhivago star Omar Sharif, took £1.93 million on its opening weekend, knocking conspiracy thriller Vantage Point into second. Katherine Heigl rom-com 27 Dresses has won the hearts of UK movie lovers, taking the top spot at the box office on its opening weekend, according to official figures from the number-crunchers at Nielsen. The film features the Knocked Up and Roswell star as a serial bridesmaid who faces a dilemma when her spoilt sibling decides to marry the object of her affections after a whirlwind romance. Conspiracy thriller Vantage Point, which stars Dennis Quaid (Inner Space, The Day After Tomorrow, Traffic) and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), has shot to the top of the UK box office on its opening weekend.
