Stilted and unconvincing pattern play which wouldn't have done at all once the Troubles restarted.
This IRA drama which probably looked very contemporary in its day now looks somewhat dated. As a period piece it does still work and is quite gripping. The performances of MIlls, Bogarde, Tomelty et al help to make it watcheable today. Dearden's direction is excellent and there is a brilliantly filmed shootout.
