A charming if odd film
By Silverknight (9 reviews) from Norwich , 12 Jan 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
A strange and dreadfully acted film mostly full of people you have never heard of with the exception of a very young Ian Carmichael and Hugh Burden. But the story is charming - with a weak ending. BUT it is quintessentially English and of it's period and for that I love it.- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)Not very exciting, but rather interesting
By Savage (632 reviews) from London, England , 25 May 2008A much better than average British B-movie with a surprisingly sophisticated narrative manner (two long-ish flashbacks dominate the film, one told by a medium in a trance), which, unfortunately, the director (who wrote the screenplay) doesn't do anything like justice to. A couple buy a steam-yacht, which all and sundry tell them is haunted and, sure enough, it really is. What's more, the makers don't cop out with some Scooby-Doo-ish tale of a fake ghost to scare people away from a smuggling operation (which it threatens for a while); rather, they provide continually interesting developments. Alas, given that it's about ghosts, it isn't scary at all - and nor does it try to be. Instead, it seems to be trying to treat hauntings seriously, which probably isn't the right approach. Still, marks for attempting something different. Look out for a young Ian Carmichael as a drunk, and an even younger Joss Ackland as a fisherman. Plus the great Hazel Court in the lead.- Was this review helpful to you?

Charming
By a customer from East Linton , 24 Feb 2008A pleasant way to pass 70 minutes. I enjoyed the ending and thought it had a nice twist. Oddly educational, I know know the difference between a boat, ship and vessell!- Was this review helpful to you?
