  Worth Persevering for the payoff.

  The Ghost (Ryeong) is a Singapore flick which starts out as an obvious, insipid, and uninspired horror film, stealing indiscriminately from Ring, Ju-On, and other superior films.
  
  However, about half-way through, The Ghost suddenly changes direction and becomes something more than a horror film, eschewing jumps and scares in favour of a fairly dark delve into the psyche of teenage bullying. Then, for the pay-off, it reverts back to supernatural horror for an unexpected shock twist at the end which, whilst not entirely explainable, is certainly something you won't have seen coming.
  
  Not, by any means, a substantial entry into the Dark Asia cannon, but an interesting and worthwhile distraction.
