The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Celebrity photographer Connor Mead loves freedom, fun and women--in that order. A committed bachelor who thinks nothing of breaking up with multiple women on a conference call, Connor's mockery of romance proves a real buzz-kill for his kid brother, Paul, and a houseful of well wishers on the eve of Paul's wedding. Just when it looks like Connor may single-handedly ruin the wedding, he is visited by the ghosts of his former jilted girlfriends, who take him on a revealing and hilarious odyssey through his failed relationships-past, present and future. Together they attempt to find out what turned Connor into such an insensitive jerk and whether there is still hope for him to find true love... or whether he really is the lost cause everyone thinks he is.

    Screwed not Scrooged

A blatant rip-off of Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol'. Instead of Scrooge the miser, you have Matthew McConaughey the self-centred womaniser. Instead of the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, you have ghosts of girlfriends past, present and future. I suppose the brother and his wedding, that McConaughey screws up, is in place of the down-trodden Cratchit family.

There are a few points in the film where a slightly amusing instance occurs, like the wedding cake and the little boy digging snow beneath the window, who is asked 'Is today Christmas?' to which he replies 'No it's Saturday you moron!'

To sum up, a very poor chick-flick/rom-com, with little to offer in originality and laughs.

I think moronic sums it up, just as the little boy said!!!!

    Garner and McConaughey's smelly introduction

    • 02 May 2009

Jennifer Garner left the cast and crew of new film Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past holding their noses thanks to a run-in with a skunk before work. One of the actress' dogs was sprayed by the 'stink badger' the night before her first day on set - and she couldn't get the stench out of her hair and clothes. And, no matter how hard she scrubbed in the shower, the skunk stink wouldn't go away. Garner thought she'd avoided on-set humiliation - until co-star Matthew McConaughey's sharp senses picked up...
