Screwed not Scrooged

A blatant rip-off of Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol'. Instead of Scrooge the miser,you have Matthew McConaughey the self-centred womaniser. Instead of the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, you have ghosts of girlfriends past, present and future. I suppose the brother and his wedding, that McConaughey screws up, is in place of the down-trodden Cratchit family.
There are a few points in the film where a slightly amusing instance occurs, like the wedding cake and the little boy digging snow beneath the window, who is asked 'Is today Christmas?' to which he replies 'No it's Saturday you moron!'
To sum up, a very poor chick-flick/rom-com, with little to offer in originality and laughs.

By a customer , 14 Jul 2012Well, that's 1 hour and 40 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Badly written, and not funny. A waste of a decent cast. All rather sordid. The only 'moral' that came out of this (not the usual, uplifting one you get with other 'Christmas Carol' 'homages') is - keep it in your pants!- Was this review helpful to you?
