So Good That I Went Straight Out & Bought A Copy!

This is an excellent, thought-provoking, beautifully acted film. I cannot recommend it enough to people. Bill Nighy is superb and Kelly MacDonald is both beautiful and subtle in her performance. I enjoyed this so much that I went out bought a copy for keeps. Richard Curtis has written a timely tale that makes you think about your own personal priorities in life and the difference that you as an individual can make to other people's lives.- Was this review helpful to you?

A gentle romance

The two lead roles are superb ,Bill Nighy and Kelly MacDonald, and it is a low key gentle pleasant innocuous meander of a story. Two lonely souls sort of drift together for a while and a little connection and love is briefly found before their lives diverge again. Clumsy misfiring
By a customer , 20 Nov 2011Interested to see that HBO were associated with this production as I've been impressed with their previous work, particularly because it has been intelligent and hit the delicate line between crassness and 'meaningfulness'. This film doesn't and it often lurches clumsily between what should be touching scenes and preaching as if it doesn't trust the viewer to understand. Bill Nighy is a unique and sometimes endearing actor but he needs to be reigned in at times. This film does raise questions but not those I suspect Richard Curtis intended.- Was this review helpful to you?

Whirlwind romance? Hardly!
