Better than the Swedish original.Good film of a good previous film and great book
By roncoach (365 reviews) from suffolk , 06 Jun 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Not a classic, but very good indeed.
They said David Fincher could not better the Swedish version. IMHO he has done so. And he has remained true to the book trilogy.
Daniel Craig plays his part well, big-name co-stars all do well; but Rooney Mara steals the show with an unforgettable performance.
Retaining all its original Swedish flavour and scenery, this film is way above the average for movies at this time.- Was this review helpful to you?

(263)Does not drag on in any way !
By a customer , 20 May 2013A really clever and exciting story with built-in expectation of what may come keeping you in your seat. Excellent performances by the two main actors in this web of intrigue.- Was this review helpful to you?

By vickig0306 (429 reviews) from Halifax , 19 May 2013I actually prefer the original Swedish version & prefer the book even more but Daniel Craig & co put in great performances in this remake making it a really good film. Shame there will be no follow ups- Was this review helpful to you?

Gritty well acted thriller
By HomeCinemaNut (2 reviews) , 13 May 2013Had no prior knowledge of this film havng only ever seen 100's of people reading the book on the train. Lead actors are all excellent with a great, if not slighty dark plot. Well worth a look and I for one will be reading the book on the back of this film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great re-working of the original Swedish film
By twosoddingcats (212 reviews) from Kingston-upon-Thames , 13 May 2013Ive seen the three Swedish films so rented this out of curiosity and I must say, Daniel Craig is excellent as the journalist and Rooney Mara is fantastic as Lisbeth. Of course, the surprises are taken away as you already know the plot but the film makers went to great lengths to give this film its original Swedish feel including the cat food being in Swedish tins and the actors speaking in a Swedish accent. They didnt want to re-set the film in America, but keep its original Swedish setting. The rape scene is obviously disturbing as well as what happens to the cat (I am a cat parent!). I was not disappointed with this re-make and look forward to see the cast in the next two films. Also, the film is choc full of well known heavy weight actors which make it very enjoyable viewing.- Was this review helpful to you?

Unbearable to watch
By elzebub (2 reviews) , 26 Apr 2013horrible, horrible rape scene made this unbearable to watch! saw this in the cinema and i sat there sobbing and couldnt watch as it was so upsetting. it's such a shame because aside from that it is actually a good film but i won't watch it again on principle...there should be a warning at the beginning of the graphic sexual violence scenes.- Was this review helpful to you?
