[Highly rated reviewer]Not very catchy at all. Once you actually got into the film, it ends, and that was a let down too.
Superb prison dramaBy Cato (774 reviews) from Lydbury North , 10 Mar 2006This is one of those films which should have got a lot more recognition than it did, in that it's probably one of the very best of its genre. The plot is extremely pessimistic, apart from the very ending, which holds some light for the future, but the acting is some of the best you'll ever see in a film of this type. This is due mostly to the director, Tom Gries, who did this film for TV, although it deserved full film status. Shot in a real prison, many of of the extras were inmates, but the acting of Alan Alda and Vic Morrow, among others, is superb. A very good film, my only reservation was that some of the dialogue was hard to understand in places.
Slow...By strange6 (19 reviews) from Wigan , 08 Feb 2006and quite disappointing on the whole. What let it down for me though was its ending which was very weak and made you think 'is that it?'Also the first 30 mins is occupied with Alda's settling into prison life which, as you can guess, is not very interesting. Also, the main crook in the film is about as frightening as a cup of tea. Mediocre film, not bad but not good either.
