Overlong, often confusing to those who cannot remember the earlier films, and hampered by at least one wretched performance, it fails to reach the standard of the first two movies in the series. But for all that it retains one's interest most of the time.

This film should never have been made.

The Godfather is as close to a perfect film as I have seen. The Godfather Part 2 is superb, though I don't agree with the view that it is better than the original.

    Anyway.... this one sucks.

Its just Coppola paying his penance so he can fund a film he really wants to make. He's been doing a fair bit of that lately (JACK!!!).

When the final tagedy happens at the end you don't care...and why should you. Shoddy in every department. This is De Palma standard gangster. Don't bother.

Many poeple say that this is the let down of the Godfather Trilogy. I don't agree, it's a cracking film. I think Mike (Al Pacino) grows as a character.

    Disappointing

I had read some reviews which suggested Part 3 of the triology was well worth watching but to be frank I found it disappointing in comparison to Parts 1 and 2.

Al Pacino was as good as ever (although older and wiser) but the plot, involving the pope, was a major letdown.

Sat through the movie just to see the conclusion, but don't hold your breath.

Avoided this movie until now, since it didn?t get good reviews at the time ? especially Sofia Coppolla. But, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality, despite a few nagging holes such as the absence of half brother Tom Hagen (Robert Duval) and Bridget Fonda?s short lived appearance. Nonetheless, it?s a great ending that?s full of the same drama and tension as the previous two. I must say I preferred the younger, intense Pacino in the earlier movies as the mature Pacino is more familiar to us now, and in this film acts like he would in any other gangster movie ? he is still great though. Sofia Coppolla isn?t too bad, and the great performances from Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy Garcia and Eli Wallach more than compensate. Recommeded viewing if you enjoyed the first two movies.

    Well worth a watch

The final part in the epic series. Michael Corleone struggles to search for his successor and a way of turning his family from the life of crime into a legitimate family.

Again a great film well worth a watch.

    Fantastic end to the trilogy

Having read the other reviews I wasn't expecting much from this movie. I was very surprised however to find I was totally gripped from beginning to end. I think it is the best film of the trilogy and the acting is superb.

    A sequel that stands up

A worthy follow up to the first 2 films.

It is difficult to match the impact of the first film, as you can only have the initial impact once, but an interesting film in its own right, with lots of sub plots to keep you involved .

An absolutely brilliant film which I can watch over and over again. Which is better - the first one, the remake or Godfather 3? There really isn't much to choose. They are all brilliant.
