The very Good,The very Weird

Basically,anyone who adored the Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns is going to have a ball watching this.The director has taken elements from the similarly epic Leone movies 'the Good,the Bad,and the Ugly',and 'Duck you Sucker' and mixed in some Korean mayhem via 'Mad Max 2'.

This film is sometimes breathtaking-mostly in the action sequences that are some of the best I've seen in ages.The narrative veers all over the shop,but the visual flair and the superb acting of the three leads make sure that you'll stay till the end.This is homage,not pastiche and it had me wondering why someone hasn't attempted it before.There are some wonderful

set pieces involving moving trains,deserts,and lawless towns.The Korean twist to proceedings gives the film an almost mythical quality that Hollywood simply couldn't deliver

and it is this that makes this epic a must see.

what a total cinematic blast

this film has everything, the lot. From start to finish i was just blown away. The sceney and storyline are just mouth-watering. Every character is unique and has its place in the film. It's just a crazy crazy action packed fun ride. Loved it, classic.

Totally outstanding

This is a truly outstanding film and certainly worth watching. The scenery is beautiful and well short. The stroy line can be somewhat confusing but the non stop action scenes make up for it. One reviewer compares this film to Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns and I fully agree. It is BRILLIANT!!

An Eastern Western...

Its interesting to see all the familiar WEstern tropes transferred to China and mixed with a little Eastern martial arts. Not much in the way of plot, but some fun characters, likeable performances and good action sequences make it work. On the down side, slightly over-reliant on CGi trick shots and some of the fights are shot too frenetically. Watching in subtitles, you probably lose a little of the Chinese/Korean distinction which is quite a major point, but still very watchable.

The Good, The Bad & The huh?

The first thing that came into my mind when I saw the title of this movie was- A comedy version of Clint Eastwood classic.

The film has its way of getting your attenstion with action sequences and some subitites wording. Plain and simple this film doesnt have much to offer but what it does it makes up in some new tricks. Starts off with something too look at but towards the end you start to think the director is makeing it up now.

O well can you think of a time when you done that yourself?

Tribute to the spaghetti western set in 1930's Manchuria it's a surprisingly good film! Lots of action and comedy. Bandits, Japanese Army, hired killers a bounty hunter and a train robber who loves his granny, oh, and beware of kids with knives! The plot flows well keeping your interest to the end...where you have the option of two! Loved it!

Outstanding

Crosses the fine line between stupid and stupendous and comes out on the right side. Senseless violence and a story that careers from one mad fight to the next without stopping for breath or a sensible story. Jaw droppingly brilliant. Just sit back and sink into it and don't think about it too hard or you'll spoil the fun.

Pure entertainment

One of the best, complete and original films I have seen for some time. This is a well planned and executed film. From the long opening shots through to the action scenes and the Mexican stand-off this is nothing but an enjoyable experience. The music is fantastic (reminicent of Barry Adamson), the cinematography is distinctive and evokative, the plot is well thought out and balanced, upping the tempo all the way, and all the characters are memorable, well acted and able to stand up on there own. This is a film you can watch over and over, and end with big smile on your face.
