The very Good,The very Weird

Basically,anyone who adored the Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns is going to have a ball watching this.The director has taken elements from the similarly epic Leone movies 'the Good,the Bad,and the Ugly',and 'Duck you Sucker' and mixed in some Korean mayhem via 'Mad Max 2'.
This film is sometimes breathtaking-mostly in the action sequences that are some of the best I've seen in ages.The narrative veers all over the shop,but the visual flair and the superb acting of the three leads make sure that you'll stay till the end.This is homage,not pastiche and it had me wondering why someone hasn't attempted it before.There are some wonderful
set pieces involving moving trains,deserts,and lawless towns.The Korean twist to proceedings gives the film an almost mythical quality that Hollywood simply couldn't deliver

(60)The director says "Oriental Western"...
By a customer , 12 Feb 2013...but there are so many other genres thrown into the mix. Western, Martial Arts, Indiana Jones, Slapstick, Sexy Opium Smokers, Gore...even politics. This is so much fun, even for a boring old cineaste like me, and confirms that the first decade in cinema of the 21st Century belonged to Korea.- Was this review helpful to you?

Man With No Name? Film With No Direction!
By Rigamortis (95 reviews) from South London , 05 Jun 2012I like to see a cowboy kicking the Jesus juice out of someone and shooting them repeatedly while trying to look unnecessarily cool as much as the next guy, but this has a little too much of it. The plot concerns a map, treasure, lots of interested parties, trains, no planes and the odd automobile. Everybody wants in on the action and the rewards and are prepared to shed huge amounts of blood for it, as long as it's not their own. However, the plot (derived from a famous spaghetti western - can you guess which one?) seems to disappear in a hail of bullets on a regular basis. It has to be said these bullets sound absolutely delicious and crack delightfully as they zing around making plot holes. The characters and story are also suitably weird and off the wall. It's this weird and highly comical collection of characters and the all in brawl elements that make this a very watchable romp. Don't see this for the script cos' that ain't what spaghetti's for. Spaghetti is for revenge, retribution and epic gun fights. Saddle up and ride that weirdass pony!- Was this review helpful to you?

Not what you'd expect from a Korean film

The Good The Bad The Overlong
