Gospel ExtravaganzaBy a customer from Kent, England , 04 May 2006
[Highly rated reviewer]'The Gospel', a box office release in the USA, but not in the UK, and particularly hard to find, is a modern day retelling of the biblical story told by Jesus of the prodigal son. It highlights the disappointments and struggles of a young man, torn between the world of success and the childhood faith he has turned his back on. Also highlights the gospel music genre. A work of fiction, but honest in portraying the stuggles people that form part of a black church in America (or anywhere presumably) face, ie, pride, temptation, revenge, ambition, bitterness, etc. A film anyone can watch. No bad language or sexual scenes (though implied). The ending theme is to prove that no-one is perfect, but God is.

The GospelBy SilvaSurfa (17 reviews) from London , 10 Aug 2009The storyline and acting were adequate at best, but the central base of this film was the music and some of the artists that featured. I wished i saw this in the Cinema, as i would've been clapping to some of the songs, but it didn't quite grab me in the same way on tv, but very watchable all the same.
