superb family film

When an unannounced, uninvited and unwelcome family of fun-loving misfits, converge upon a lakeside resort, to join their relatives for a summer of relaxation, the result is anything but restful.
It is Chet's (played by John Candy) worst nightmare, as wheeler-dealer Roman ( played by Dan Ackroyd), his wife and twin daughters join the easygoing Chet and his straight-laced clan for a season of 'fun' in the sun.
Unfortunately, the only thing these two in-laws have in common is their intense dislike for each other.
Soon, it's brother-in-law against brother-in-law in an uproarious and hilarious fight to the finish to see which one really knows how to enjoy 'The Great Outdoors'.- Was this review helpful to you?

Only let down is John Candys sons tedious story meeting a local girl which isn't funny nor particularly interesting. Fav bit for me has to be the steak challenge. Truly AWWWWWFFFFUL

Did we really think once that talking racoons were amusing? Were we so desperate that we actually bought cinema tickets for something so unbelievably witless as this? What on earth was Dan Aykroyd doing in such dull stuff? Ditto Annette Bening?- Was this review helpful to you?

Classic Candy!

Great Fun

Watched it again, and all i could think about what a great film and why I havent bought this yet. Great film with many clever jokes and laugh out loud moments.
