Can war films be this boring?

I rented this as am working my way through James Franco's back catalogue as I think he is an excellent actor. He is not in this enough to save it. Though I can't be sure of that, as this is the first war film that I have managed to fitfully doze through. Long-winded, unconvincing and boring.
