The Groom Wore Spurs

I rented this specifically for the one film so I apologize if you want a review of the whole package! As a Ginger Rogers fan this was a new film to me, having only ever seen Jack Carson as a comedy side-plot billed third or lower, it was a tad strange having him as a leading man, Nonetheless he played his character to a tee, insecure, slightly irritating but nonetheless dashing. Miss Rogers, was as usual charming and elegant, although her character did make some (in my opinion) hasty choices that didnt seem quite consistent. Noentheless, good clean fun, a light-hearted romp with some very funny moments, perfect for fans of the cast, or those just looking for something amusing to fill a couple of hours with something different (and in my opinion better!) than the latest chic-flick!- Was this review helpful to you?

Hemingway's rather doughy WWI reportage is leavened by the old reliable Borzage romance magic and genuine star performances. A little dull, but memorable.
The Groom Wore Spurs **
B studio would be screwball comedy is low on quality and almost absent of laughs. Quite watchable, but Ginger is about twenty years too old for this, and not that easy to swallow as a Hollywood lawyer.
Indiscretion of an American Wife *
A real curio. So solemn and self important as to almost be endearing. Almost. This is sheer drudgery, but mercifully short. Jones and Clift are attractive to look at, but that's very little to hang a film on.- Was this review helpful to you?
