    Scary

Dark scary but somehow not as scary as the 1st, maybe we have all got used to the long dark haired ghosts after the ring/grudge etc. I preferred this version to the american remake but there are plenty of good scares to be had in this sequel , the second half of the film is packed full of creepy moments and did i just see something moments???

    Well worth a watch

    Pant wetting time!

Trust me, if you like spooky movies, and can handle subtitles, you won't find much better than Ju On The Grudge 2 - it's spookier than the first, watch out in the background, and keep the rewind button handy, you'll be saying "wait a minute, wasnt there something there"......

    Scariest film ever?

After watching this film I would like to say that I ended up peering into the darkened corners of my house and then generally walking around feeling like a scared child.

More coherent than the original Japanese Ju-On the Grudge with the scare factor ramped up to level 11. Great audio as well with fantastic use of Dolby Digital or DTS surround channels.

Hollywood struggles to create this amount of tension in their own "horror" movies and are now taking to remaking these into more easily accesible American films . Please try to watch the original versions as they are not sugar coated and taste a lot worse to swallow - which is a good thing when it comes to suspense/horror. While your'e at it check The Eye, Ringu ( not a scarier version Pingu) and A Tale of Two Sisters.

Don't say I didn't warn you if you develop a mortal fear of photocopiers, pregnancy, dark stains on carpets or small deathly pale skinned children though!

Bent out of shape and back for more.

Arguably a better film than its predecessor, Ju-on 2 follows the story of Harase Kyoko, a movie actress who is asked to appear on a t.v. show covering the events of the original film.

This time around Shimizu appears to have learned a few things about structure and story telling. Our lead actress certainly sees more running time than the unfortunate victims of the original curse. The structure is more linear too, allowing for a less perplexing viewing experience.

And though the scares are less frequent when they do come they are crafted with such style that it's hard not to be impressed by the directors ability to create nerve shredding tension with such obvious ease. And it's worth taking the time to look at the bigger picture too because what you thought you saw, well, there's a good chance you actually did. Ju-on 2 certainly demands repeat viewing.

Then there's the final act. A masterful feast of sound and vision and a wonderful epilogue of sorts which suggest that this particular curse will never be stopped. Much like Asian ghost stories it would seem. Afterall, Shimizu is all ready at work on his own American sequel.

    Dub-ble trouble

Like the reviewer above says, don't confuse this one with the American one. Alas, in my haste to watch the Grudge 2 I did. Never mind, I thought, I can watch it with English subtitles or with dubbing. I opted for the latter and wished I hadn't - the voiceovers are pretty awful. Not very well done at all. The film itself isn't that bad but the original (American version) was so good there didn't really need to be a sequel. I notice that the Yank sequel also has poor reviews so if you haven't watched it yet save yourself the trouble and rent something like Derailed.

Confusing and not as good as the first film!

After having seen the first film I was naturally eager to watch the second. Have to say though, I found this one to be a little confusing, there was much chopping and changing going back to the past and then advancing to the future to show how things panned out. I didnt enjoy it as much as the first film, it lacked the intense scariness. But I guess if youve seen and enjoyed the initial movie watching this one has to be done really. I'm now gonna watch the American versions to see how they fare. I'd be surprised if the first is better than the original Ju-On though. But I guess you never can tell.

    Enjoyable enough, but not great

A pretty good film on the whole, which has a somewhat creepy atmosphere at times (but has lost most of the tension and atmosphere found in the original and the remake), has average acting performances from most of the cast, and basic special effects and make-up (it has one good-looking effect, but that is pretty much copied from Ringu). The film is also silly at times (a wig attacking one of the characters for example), and much like the other films can get very confusing (mostly during the ‘Chiharu’ chapter), but the last 5-minutes are good (and are probably the highlight of the movie). In the end the movie is a step-down from the original and the remake, but still enjoyable enough viewing on the whole. If you're a fan of the Ju-On movies you will probably find something to enjoy in the film, but if you haven't seen the other ones yet I would rather recommend watching the original or the remake instead.
