    [Highly rated reviewer]

Being a fan of James Woods, I rented this looking for a nice, easy watch. As I always do, I checked out the trailer on the DVD before I watched it, and it instantly lowered my expectations. It really did the film no favours. I was about to send it straight back, but decided to give it a try. Thank God I did.

Starting a bit slow, the film finally starts to settle in and it's great. Who cares if it's just another odd couple cop movie. If it keeps you entertained, that's the main thing.

The serial killer bad guy, however, known as the Party Crasher, is not a good thing. the actor is terrible, and the dialogue usually results into him just bursting out laughing. Sure, you hate him. But, it's not for the right reasons.

Seen this before a few years ago - still a good, fun film. Easy to watch, with a good story line.

  • A Hard Hour

I gave it an hour before I realised what an utter waste of time it was watching this. I don't wish to appear condescending but it just wasn't my type of film - if I had been 15 years old when it first came out in 1991 I might just have enjoyed it, but it now seemed such puerile baloney, overacted, unfunny, and dated.

  • STANILAVSKI'S WAY

    Rated - 4.0 stars

Clever, self-reflexive policier that scores its points by being the very thing it parodies - yet it gets away with it. The usual odd-couple buddy movie cliches are rolled out while simultaneously being satirized. One actor pretends to be a cop while the other pretends to be an actor trying to learn from the former about how to portray a cop on screen. A brilliantly-acted movie that is also very funny because, rather than being half as funny, it is twice as funny as it hints at what really goes on in the minds of Method actors as they try to convince the public that they are what they are not.

Eventually the simulated reality of this movie comes to resemble the films the actor here regularly appears in; while realizing that reality is tougher than the silver screen. Here, comedy replaces suspense because we have seen this all before - and it works.

The romantic side of the movie is less than convincing and films about films are usually self-indulgent attempts evade the fact that a particular format or genre is tired out, but this is a helluva lot of fun

This is easily the best thing Michael J Fox has done.

This is easily the best thing James Woods has done.

I will let you decide which one of those statements is the most difficult to believe but they are, in my opinion, equally true.

  • good cop movie

I enjoyed seing Micheal J Fox in something a little more grown-up, eventhough he plays a childish, spoiled actor, shadowing a hard bitten, vetren cop ( james woods ) who is on the trail of a killer party crasher. There are some great one liners and car chases. very enjoyable i liked it
