Don't Seek
By a customer from London , 23 Aug 2009[Highly rated reviewer]
A film so terrible it resembles an ITV play, the sort of thing the beleaguered company might put on in a feeble attempt to attract an AB1 audience.
It's a two-hander made on one set. The first hand being birdwatcher Roy. He makes bird sounds the way a trainspotter might imitate steam trains. And it's every bit as fascinating. The second hand is Dave, a character not so much mysterious as completely undefined. We do learn, however, that he likes action movies. This got me to wondering how Dave might take to a film like this. 'A load of toss' would probably have been his verdict. And he'd be right.- Was this review helpful to you?

(28)More chiff than chaff
By monkey_magic (19 reviews) , 25 Feb 2013A classic of British cinema. One of my favourite films of all time, which is saying something given that it's based around two men in a hut. To be honest, if I'd read the description first I would never have watched it, which would have been a real shame. If you hanker after explosions and gunfights then this isn't for you, but if you prefer thoughtful, dark, edgy drama shot through with understated humour then go for it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Atmospheric, if a little predictable
By Jennish (335 reviews) from Rye , 12 Jul 2012A short, simple and claustrophobic piece of character driven tension. A series of awkward conversations between a bird watcher and a morose drunk escaping a storm builds the tension nicely. Long before the garbled news of a police manhunt crackles over the shortwave it soon becomes apparent that someone has walked into the wrong bird hide. The question is, who? Although it is a little obvious this is still fun to watch because of the strength of the performances from what is basically a two man cast.- Was this review helpful to you?

Raw Hide
By a customer , 15 Nov 2011Class acting, great little Roal Dahl type plot, Cracking little Brit gem that brings together black humour, drama and suspense on a shoestring but without ever looking cheap and nasty..
the cretins who don't appreciate this make me despair.- Was this review helpful to you?

Worthy but overlong
By Peabody from Manchester , 27 Sep 2011A decent idea over-stretched. 'Tales Of The Unexpected' used to do this sort of thing equally well in half an hour. Alex MacQueen was as good as you'd expect but even he began to falter towards the end. Never quite managed to escape its origins as a stage play. In the theatre, you'd forgive the stilted dialogue and melodrama. In a film, it failed to convince. Almost a success.- Was this review helpful to you?

Compulsive Viewing
By a customer , 25 Sep 2011Absorbing,utterly intriguing little gem.Would have given it 4 stars save for the fact that it was sometimes difficult to hear what the characters were saying.
The sort of film where after you have seen it you're not quite sure what to make of it, but after a few days feel compelled to watch it again..Recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?
