A hateful, sadistic and boring sequel to Alexandre Ajas 2005 remake, this bears little relation to the French... read more on Time Out
Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes remains one of my favourite horror films of all time; gritty, funny and relentless.
I quite liked Aja's updating which made the film more of a 'fantasy' but had enough visual inventiveness and good pacing to keep me engrossed.
The Hills Have Eyes 2 came along hot on the heels of Aja's remake, doubtlessly to cash in on its success and it's a disaster. Despite some attempts at topicality the dialogue is pretty flat and the story non-existent - its just a group of soldiers being picked off one by one.
This tedious excuse for a few gore effects strung together on the thinnest of plots had more than outstayed its welcome after 30 minutes and I couldn't even be bothered to fast forward through the chapters to see if if it improved. Dire!
'The Hills have Eyes II' truly is a disappointment compared to its predecessor. The first film worked because one sympathizes with the family especially during parts where they were being terrorized by the mutants. However, this sequel just tarnishes the good reputation the first one had. The plot is about a group of National Guard trainees on a search and rescue mission gone wrong.
Unfortunately, we never end up sympathizing with the characters in this one. Basically, the whole movie is about showing as much violence and gore as possible and that's it. You just see a cat and mouse game between the trainees and the mutants throughout the film.
I usually always watch every sequel to a good film, but I wouldnt recommend this one at it does detract somewhat from the previous.
All i can say is i am speechless...
A huge horror fanatic....and this even made me jump.
Plenty of gore and lots of open endings....
Perfect..
very slow and predictable movie. no real plot to follow, nothing like the first film.
Terrible performances throughout, with a screenplay that I doubt took more than a day to cobble together. But hey, who cares about story, it's scary. Right? Wrong.
Tries to make up for it's lack of shocks and laughable attempts at gore with a couple of truly vile and unnecessary scenes.
To top it all off, it breaks the golden rule of all cheap slasher flicks by not making the hot one get her tits out. Rubbish.
You don't want to go near this one.

Dont get me wrong i love horror and gore. The first hills have eyes was brilliant. Not much of a story line but still enough blood and guts to make you turn your head away. This one, again the story line was predictable but then thats the reason i went to see the film! Coz i knew everyone was gonna die! However I have never actually wanted to throw up during a film before. This film is sick, gross and gorey to the max! It did excatly what it said on the tin.
Warning-if you did not like the first one-dont watch this one!!!
This film is very bloody. The acting, plot and the characters are just awful. Take the last word from each of the first two sentances and make your own two word review for this disaterous film.

If you like typical, slightly better than average Horror/Gore then this is definately worth a watch. If you like a more psychologically interesting edge to your horror/gore (eg Saw) then you will find the plot to this paper thin, as it is just really a gore fest full stop with no plot to speak of to keep you hooked. Very well filmed though and reasonably entertaining, I wouldn't have it at the top of your list, but it might be worth a view.
Incredible! A superb movie - the perfect horror movie. The gore and horror starts straight away and is non-stop from there. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat with your heart pulsing from start to end with the occasional moment that makes you jump or feel like being sick.
The movie pushes the boundries of brutal and sickening killings and is miles better than the first movie. O.k, the people in it are a bit dumb and as always, don't listen to you screaming at the TV telling them not to go into the hills. But despite this, you will be suprised at how well the movie is directed, acted and most importantly written. To be honest, I was dissapointed with the first movie, but the sequel is much better and has a better story to it.
A must see for any horror fan - watch this if you enjoyed: The Hills Have Eyes 1, Hostel, Saw, 28 Days Later, Resident Evil, Wrong Turn, House Of Wax
WARNING - Do NOT watch whilst eating - I did and nearly threw up. Not very suitable for under 13s - the start is off-putting.
Oh god why did I bother.
If you expect a shock value horror film which the first (albeit a remake!) meets on several levels then look elsewhere because this film is one of those run of the mill horrors that makes you literally scream at the TV 'FOR GOD'S SAKE JUST DIE AND GET IT OVER WITH'
You have a bunch of Reserve forces who - stereotypically - all have their own traits, one is a peace lover, one a rambo takeoff, comedian, female with child and the war hardened corporal.
They take over a base camp that is strangly devoid of the staff, what do they do?? They split up and get killed off one by one in the usual run of the mill stuff. You don't have any feelings for these wooden characters so you don't care when they get picked off.
This is nowhere near the first and it is annoying that producers, even on a budget, can distribute this pap and sit back thinking 'I'm proud of that'. The film will have you screaming in annoyance at the stupidity of the teams actions and usual squabbling that takes place.
At one stage a squad member joins her team who are up the hill trying to get back to base camp. They can't get down due to having no ropes but yet she manages to meet up with them with no ropes and they don't seem concerned or ask how she got up there and then she gets involved in trying to get back down without ropes????!!!!!
Please avoid. It is awful
If you liked CHAINSAW MASSACRE then this won't disappoint!I saw the black and white version and it was good, but not particularly gruesome in comparision. This one is so different,so don't worry about,i've seen the old one,how diff can new one be!A lot springs to mind.New story, good effects, well acted, what more do you want?
