Whisper it the remake of cult classic The Hitcher is actually okay. It offers no new surprises or twists, but it is a decent introduction to the next generation. The acting is okay though the direction at times leaves a bit to be desired. The remake for some reason lacks the intensity which made the first a favourite. Sean Bean brings a his usual calmness and energy, though he does need to lose his so called American accent, and stick to his gruffy Yorkshire dialect. Unfortunately Bean does not bring the same energy that Hauer does in the original. Hauer managed to bring out the humour in the original, while Bean brings menace to his John Ryder. Overall an effective updating of a much loved 80s film.
