As an octogenarian with a vast viewing experience of film, I like re-visiting films I enjoyed long ago. I remembered The Honey Pot from the screening of it when it was originally released. It was not well received nor particularly popular. Maybe it was too sophisticated and relied on the viewer's knowledge of the source play, Volpone. The cast, particularly Rex Harrison obviously enjoyed the fun of making it and the sexy and beautiful ladies were backgrounded by the plainer Maggie Smith who was given the best role. She should watch it herself to try to return to a more modest approach to acting than the diva-esque manner of her later performances.

It was a pleasure to see it again in the company of a young woman friend who was totally unfamiliar with much of its' background but enjoyed it greatly. As compared to the dross of most current film, it is a near masterpiece. Bravo intellect against violence and special effects plus terrible and uneducated film directors.
