If you havn't already read the book then don't get this film out. You need to have read the book. It is an excellent book but one which doesn't lend itself to adaptation. Which makes you wonder why they even tried? They take a linear approach to the timeline and simplify the story at every opportunity. The acting isn't bad - although Rob Lowe is wooden and Jodie Foster is miscast - overall disappointing.
