Most helpful review
the hours
By homerj from EAST SUSSEX , 20 Oct 2003[Highly rated reviewer]
I was very unsure about this film after I had familiarised myself by watching the trailer, and was quite willing to return the film without watching it.
However, nothing on telly, I decided to give it a go on a cold, damp sunday afternoon.
What a delightful, but sombre, way to pass a couple of hours. Superb performances by Ms Moore, Streep and Kidman. It is a joy to watch all three of them in action.
There is no violence, swearing or gratuitous sex (i am no prude, i can appreciate all three in the right context), which made this film a perfect diversion from the outside world.
If in doubt, keep this film at the bottom of your rental queue and forget about it. It may turn up and surprise you - it did me, and what a pleasant surprise I nearly missed.- Was this review helpful to you?

(272)Power of Destiny
By bucketsbentley (4 reviews) , 15 Dec 2012sorrowful, depressive yet gives you hope in the power of making your own destiny. Not for those who don't want to look inward- Was this review helpful to you?

An absolute feat
By a customer , 15 Aug 2012This film is very touching and I would call it a great feat in painting the picture of depression. The narrative is absolutely ingenious and does not let down the novel on which it is based.
The performances throughout the film were amazing; the leading ladies gave especially outstanding performances. The great depth of the film is owed to the performances as much as, if not more than, the narrative.- Was this review helpful to you?

The Hours
By a customer , 29 Jul 2012Really good idea and a good ending but didn't quite get where the film was going half the time. Worth the watch though.- Was this review helpful to you?

My favourite of all times
By romeo7 (20 reviews) from London , 20 Jul 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Although i like sci-fi action films, I found this one of the best films I've ever watched. I watched it in cinema before as I like the trio actresses so much as they are my favourites and loved it so much so after few years I decided to watch again. Absolutely loved it and forgotten most of the story. It is a film that you play, it goes slowly without boring you and you very much enjoy it to the last second.- Was this review helpful to you?

Too Good To Be Sniffed At
By GregK (8 reviews) , 16 May 20123-in-1 film in which Kidman & Streep deliver excellent performances.
Very enjoyable film - despite the difficult subject matter.
My only tiny quibble is that Kidman's prosthetic nose, although hardly noticeable in most scenes, looked obviously false in scenes where it stayed cold whilst the rest of her face was warm!
In addition, I thought it occasionally made her look uncannily like ex-husband Tom Cruise - very strange!- Was this review helpful to you?
