Read the book first, so that you'll enjoy the film more. Brilliant, understated acting from Anthony Hopkins in this fairly accurate portrayal of Roth's intriguing novel. A timeless story of passion and love between seemingly mis-matched individuals, although we discover that they in fact have a lot in common. A wonderful twist that comes as quite a shock - in the book and film.
