precursor to Top GunBy itstinks (705 reviews) from North of Reading , 04 May 2013US pilots take on North Korean pilots against a romance drama where Mitchum fancies the wife of a colleague. Too much time spent on the lovey dovey stuff but build up for the action sequences at the end. Shame about the pretty but wooden actress who plays the wife.
Excellent air combat sequencesBy Kaiomurz Motawara from London , 22 Dec 2007While Battle of Britain and Tora... have great sequences, this is probably the movie with the best jet-fighter sequences i've seen. very realisitically made. obviously, no cgi.
the plot itself is above average, but not great, and involve the dynamics between a seasoned pilot and his junior who lacks confidence. nothing out of the ordinary here.
but for afficionados of air combat and aviation, a great watch.
A Good Book but Poor FilmBy MAGDAVE (8 reviews) from Watford , 21 Nov 2007I enjoyed the book but found the film slow & predictable
still goodBy tanker12uk (32 reviews) from Bromley , 26 Aug 2005For a snap shot of life via the rose coloured specs of the american movie industry this shows the korean war conflict from the pilots eyes the story is a bit lame but holds up
the real bonus is the flying sequences which considering there was no cgi in those days was well worth the rental I enjoyed the film 20 years ago and still found it good today
I liked this filmBy Mike Steavenson from Kent ,England , 28 Jun 2005Good gritty war film with some good action scenes with Sabre jet fighters. Robert Mitchum being Robert Mitchum. Set during the Korean war. Worth watching.
