The Ice Storm review

The Ice Storm is one of the finest films ever made. It focuses on the impact the sexual revolution has on two families living in Connecticut in the early 70s. But it also has so much to say to us about the paralysing, deadening effect so-called 'freedom' can have on our lives: everything is permissable in our culture, but not everything is beneficial.
Every shot, every character is so carefully weighted, so exquisitely judged and delineated that it is almost hard to believe that this film was actually crafted by human beings.
This is a haunting, intelligent, beautifully textured, thoughtful and thought-provoking film. I strongly commend it to you.
