This movie looks amazing, am really excited to see Heath again. However, it will undoubtedly be sad to see him in a new role for the absolute last time. He is greatly missed.

  • Boring and a load of nonsense.

Not sure why this film had high ratings but I found it to be very slow with nothing to keep my attention at all. I'm not a fan of Gilliam's work, so I should have kept well away from this one (although I like Ledger and that's why I thought I'd give it a try). Tried to keep with it for about 45 minutes after which I fast forwarded to see if it would pick-up - had to eject the disc in disgust soon after.

Sorry but not at all keen on this film. Always waiting for something to happen and when it does it is not at all very entertaining

  • Terry Gilliam’s weird and wonderful visual spectacular

Sideshow troupe ran by Dr. Parnassus, strange things through the mirror, old adversary of Dr shows up, ongoing bets, save man from hanging, man helps troupe.

Terry Gilliam’s weird and wonderful visual spectacular and the last film of Heath Ledger featuring a very good cast and likeable fairy tale although it does have some similarities to Baron Munchausen.

Considering Ledger died half way through the film it’s quite an incredible feat that it got finished at all and the sections where Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell come in are very well done.

A mention too for the excellent Christopher Plummer in the lead and non-actor Lily Cole as his daughter.

It looks great as you’d expect from Gilliam and the music from Jeff and Michael Danna is outstanding.

  • Enter the wacky world of Terry Gilliam's mind…

I’m not a huge fan of Terry Gilliam's style but I rented this out of curiosity as it was Heath Ledgers last film which was only part completed at the time of his death in January 2008 (actors Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell stepped in to fill parts of his role as alternate-dimension versions of the character originally played by Ledger when the character crosses through a paranormal mirror ). It’s an odd tale set in the present day, following the traveling show of Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) -- a man who has the unique ability to guide the imagination of others. Good cameo’s by Tom Waits as the devil and Lily Cole is surprisingly good as Valentina, the daughter of Dr. Parnassus. Heath Ledgers character is a con-man who has fiddled a children’s charity…I won’t give too much of the plot away, as it’s too hard to describe….I was left feeling not sure if I hated it or liked it…

  • Made by the actors, not the storyline

Having seen who was in this film I was expecting a brilliant storyline and to really enjoy it. The story was a bit odd to say the least, could be seen as kind of pointless. The film is made entirely by the actors; if you're a fan of Heath Ledger/Johnny Depp/Colin Farrell/Jude Law, you might enjoy it.
