A bit of mis-casting ...
By a customer from ARMAGH , 27 Apr 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
A bit of mis-casting aside, this is a nice filmed version of the play. I'll watch anything with Margaret Rutherford in it anyway.- Was this review helpful to you?

A classic film of a classic comedy
By Richard53 (3 reviews) , 22 Nov 2011A cluster of acting greats who fit together so well to create a cohesive mix where no one outshines or upstages the rest. You are left feeling that this classic performance could have been written just for this cast, making a film that should have a firm place in every collection. The only crticism I have is that the sound quality is poor and could benefit from digital enhancement.- Was this review helpful to you?

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect!
By Mytrme (36 reviews) , 28 May 2011Absolutely amazing breathless comedy. Classic one-liners. Each part perfectly cast. Highlights include Margaret Rutherford; Joan Greenwood's gorgeous, chocolately husky voice; and undoubtedly every Edith Evans utterance- particularly 'To Lose one parent......' and of course 'A .... HA-A-A-ANDDD-BA-A-A-A-AGGG?????' (Much as I like Colin Firth, the remake is not a patch on this!) Superb.- Was this review helpful to you?

The wicked wit of Oscar Wilde...brilliant, funny, timeless.
By a customer , 08 May 2011I really enjoyed watching this film again. It is a timeless classic. I haven't seen the new film because I love the old one so much! The sound quality isn't great but it did have us laughing a lot.- Was this review helpful to you?

The Importance of being Earnest
By a customer from Stranraer , 27 Jul 2009Classic Oscar Wilde comedy. Some would say the acting was 'over the top', but I think it is meant to be. A very talented cast and overall very watchable light relief.- Was this review helpful to you?
