I work in a cinema, and we had the chance to watch The Incredible Hulk a couple of days before it came out. When I showed up however, the film hadn't been delivered yet, and whilst it was on in the cinema, aprart from little snippets I seen of the film, I never got the chance to see it. So as soon as it came out on DVD, I bought it, and what an ace film it is.
A couple of negitive things firts though. I wouldn't say the film is fast paced, but rather, it speeds through the good bits, particularly towards the end, when Hulk fights his nemesis. They seem to just fight, and then that's it, it's over. The action scenes are good, but could do with just that little bit more, perhaps it could have taken a little inspiration from films like The Two Towers, with its amazing over 30 minute long battle at Helm's Deep, or even - dare I say the films competition - Iron Man's action scenes.
With that out of the way, I think the film was terrific. The very fact that its about a superhero who turns essentially into a big green monster every time he gets angry is just why the film is brilliant. The difference between this film an Ang Lee's version, is that we see more of what we want to see ... The Incredible Hulk.
All the actors were great, including two of my personal favourites, Liv Tyler and Tim Roth, who plays Emil Blonsky as a great villian.
One other slightly negitive thing which must be noted however, is that the film relies too much on the viewer's already gained knowledge of The Incredible Hulk. It is not explained how Bruce Banner became the way he is, or how he knows Betty Ross or knows OF the mysterious Mr Blue.
Thankfully however, the plot is simple enough to follow, yet compelling enough to keep your eyes glued to the screen. And who can debate the outstanding special effects, which made me think that they somehow used a real actor to play the Hulk?
My opinion of the film might be a little biased, because it was quite a special experience for me personally, after FINALLY getting to see it. Most people find that Iron Man was the better film and I can't really argue with that, but the Hulk is certianly the most interesting of all the superheroes ... He's a big angry green monster! Definitely worth renting, fantastic film.
Edward Norton has sparked rumours he will reprise his role as The Hulk for The Avengers movie by refusing to confirm or deny his involvement in the upcoming film. The actor turned green to portray the Marvel comic superhero in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, and he's prompted reports he'll be joining The Avengers' all-star line-up by joining Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Don Cheadle (Colonel James Rhodes). Asked whether he'll feature in the action movie, Norton... Read more
