I first saw this film at the cinema when I was a child & it's lost none of it's magic & well surpasses the re-make ( the incredible journey homeward bound I never liked those films that try to make animals into cool dudes who 'speak '! )

Even my 17 year old daughter sat down & watched this with me as did my husband. It's just a wonderful film for all the family. The animals are just fantastic!

  • Terrible human acting is made up for by the wonderful animals

The trouble with films where animals are the stars is that the film makers skimp on the human actors because in The Incredible Journey, the Family Men are smugly pipe-in-the-mouth, delivering homilies and staring manfully into the distance, the women flutter and hover, and the children - well the children you want to kill with a large blunt instrument.

But the animals are fabulous and beautifully matched and the film charts their journey as they travel hundreds of miles, meeting bears (!) and lynx and rushing rivers, lonely little girls with dads who inexplicably work the soil and sing professionally. Set to a background of glorious American scenery, I defy you not to have a lump in your throat when all three animals rush over the hill at the end.

Worth seeing for the 'cat down the rapid's' stunt alone. Excellent acting throughout. Bodger reminded me of Julia Roberts in 'Eat Prey Love'.

This is still the best version of the incredible journey, even though there has been numerous attempts to replicate it through out the years.

Originally saw this as a child on t.v. and was so happy to find it again now.

Truelly a magical film that I will remember until the day I die.
