Pixar's Lasseter receives Golden Lion accolade in Venice

Disney/Pixar animator John Lasseter has been honoured at the Venice Film Festival in Italy with a prestigious Golden Lion award in recognition of his career achievements. Animated extravaganza, The Incredibles, has leapt to the top of the US box office taking £40 million over its opening weekend. Pixar debuts Ratatouille clip

A nine-minute clip of a new animated movie from Pixar can now be watched online and gives a sneak preview of what fans can expect when the film opens in October. Ratatouille follows the story of a young rat called Remy who longs to become a professional chef and must overcome a number of hurdles to do so. It's hard to comprehend the fascination animators seem to have for rodents. Perhaps it stems from over exposure to Tom and Jerry in formative years. At any rate, first Aardman gave us the underrated Flushed Away; now Pixar strikes back with Ratatouille. Neither title would seem an easy sell - indeed, Disney's marketing department has been moaning to anyone who'll listen about that, since Ratatouille proved the least successful Pixar release yet, box office wise.
