This movie brought a smile to my face as it reminded me a little of my years growing up.

The awkwardness of impending pubity and all it entails was portrayed in such a way it brought to mind how I felt all those years ago.

    A sweet movie in places

The Inkwell tells the story of an African American family visiting relatives for the holidays. They don't want to go but family ties and tradition dictate that they should attend. The film highlights the lies, secrets, misunderstandings of the family but focuses on the young son.

The characters were played by actors too old to play young teenagers so it didn't work for me and I didn't really care about any of the characters by the end of the film. Glad I rented it rather than buy it.

  • What a disappointment

I looked forward to seeing this film but I was terribly disappointed. The acting was shabby and in some cases appeared to be carricature. I also found the sexual encounter at the end unnecessary, seedy and immoral.
