A simple and cheap move to make, this has something a little extra than most horror movies out there.

    [Highly rated reviewer]

It is a slow moving film, but that's no reason not to watch it. The creepy 'jump-out-of-your-skin' bits are excellent. A good old fashioned ghost story. Can't believe it got such bad reviews on here and on the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) website. I nearly didn't watch it because of negative reviews, but am glad I did...

  • Refreshingly naturalistic

Very well rounded characters with believable motivations and reactions. The amateurishness of their ghost hunting rings true. Some surprising / shocking moments. The way that things are left unexplained and the background of the haunting is never properly fleshed out will either be refreshing (my own view) or infuriating. I feel it's been judged right; your opinion may differ,

Absolutely Rubbish, take an hour to get into the action and is totally predictable, I don't finish to watch it, cant take it. Really poor actors, boring and childish... Sara Paxton acting like a teenager, with stupid jokes. It is after you if wanna watch this movie, but I recommended use your time watching another movie that worth your precious time.

I really enjoyed this film. It looks great, the hotel is a fabulous building with just the right atmosphere for a ghost story. The film IS slow-paced, but it's perfect. I really like the two lead characters, especially Claire. It's well acted. The character played by Kelly McGillis is truly bizarre though! Definitely worth watching!

Very slow to get moving and as soon as it started to get interesting I'd lost interest!! Never got to see the end but what i saw did creep me out a little.

  • a good film in here somewhere

I really tried to like this film. It starts off slowly and builds realistic characters. The idea of amateur ghost chasers in a possibly haunted house on its last night is a good one. It is a classic 'tease' ghost story, is there a ghost or not? Are they seeing things or imagining them? but it spirals out of control and the last 30 minutes are just plain bonkers. The characters suddenly start acting out of all logic and the ghosts make no sense whatsoever. All the good work of the first half of the film is wasted. The closing shot was utterly blown! It could have been much more satisfying (see the film and you'll get the idea)
