On a remote tropical island, Dr. Moreau has appointed himself ruler over a menagerie of genetic mutants fashioned in his gene-splicing chamber of horrors. The products of his misguided attempt to create a more pure human species, the man-beasts worship Moreau as their god and father and live by his code of law -- a code rigidly enforced by radio-operated implants in their bodies capable of inflicting pain and death. Into this surreal nightmare arrives UN negotiator Edward Douglas (David Thewlis), the sole survivor of an airplane crash. Douglas is brought ashore on Moreau's island -- against his better judgment -- by the doctor's insane, drug-addled assistant, Montgomery (Val Kilmer), and eventually becomes a prisoner. Horrified by the doctor's monstrous experiments and afraid for his own life, Douglas seeks the aid of Moreau's lovely daughter, Aissa (Fairuza Balk), in escaping the island, but is foiled at every turn by Montgomery and his armed man-beast lackeys. Nothing else about the film is good though. The plot was interesting enough - to those of us who likethat sort of thing - but the script failed in every respect. All in all, it is just crap. Don't waste your time just to see Brando. Rent 'On the Waterfront' or 'Julius Caesar' instead.

Not as bad as everyone makes out.

First off this is a very weird film. Yes the script isn't great and Brando isnt that much better but hats off to Val Kilmer and the other cast(Ron Pearlman) for keeping the story going with all its problems(Sacked director). At times cheesy but not terrible. John Frankenheimer did a good job of editing. Makes you want to read the story.

love film, thankyou for my new re-instolment on this site, but you can not deliver what i want ? and that is why i stopped my contract last time with you,so i am very sure this wont take long this time ?......you are like all the other site's and take the piXS, and take there money.

decent version, could have been better

This movie had great actors and, because of that. I expected more. Nevertheless, it provides good entertainment and you will not regret renting it!
