Great little underrated heist movie this. Forget the title, it is not a remake of the overrated Michael Caine film, but more of a tribute. Edward Norton just goes through the motions (but even that is very good compared to many others) and Mark Wahlberg is as wooden and personality less as usual, but the rest of the cast is superb, especially Jason Statham, Seth Green and the very underrated Charlize Theron. Just put this DVD in your player and drift away for a couple of hours good entertainment.

  • Nowhere near as good as the earlier version

Certainly nowhere near as good as the earlier version. You need to see the original first so that at least you can appreciate some of the ways in which the 'Italian Job' could even still be the title of this film which is almost entirely US based. If you saw it without any awareness of the origins I think you wouldn't bother to see it through to the end.

My son wanted to watch both of these to compare. This is not a remake of the original, it has it's own story and is equally as good as the other. A good fun film, faster paced than the original, worth a watch.

  • Pleasantly impressed with a re-make.....

I don't usually like re-runs / re-makes of a an old classic film, especially one as good as the 1969 Italien Job staring Michael Caine. But this was surprisingly good in many ways including the storyline which wasn't totally based on the original. They decided to keep the obvious thing which was the mini chase, which was still a joy to see. The choice of actors was good as they did a reasonable job of portraying the original script. Yes I admit the 1969 original is a classic... but this is still an enjoyable movie to watch with a sense of nostalgia involved aswell.

The quality of this blu ray is terrible, looks like paramount has takena film reel that has been watched a few thousand times, then just transfered it to blu ray, it's got those same flickering specs you get at the cinema

I seeing it once before as a premiere in the cinema but I wanted to rented again for my husbant and he loved it so much that I think I would quite easily give 10 out of 10. Really, it was good action, sense of humour, romance and the starring was just perfect.

Would advise to any couple - man loves to action & woman the romance - and there is everything :)!!
