Kevin Kline is eminently watchable in this gritty thriller as the ex-New York cop brought back on to the force to track down a serial killer. Among the heavyweight supporting cast, Susan Sarandon stands out, and this even boasts a screenplay by Oscar-winning Moonstruck writer John Patrick Shanley. Given the talent at his disposal, director Pat O'Connor should have turned in a much better movie, but, even though this doesn't quite live up to its promise, it's still very entertaining.
