The duty of serving on a jury is examined in this courtroom drama, a mini-series created for British television. The case concerns a young Pakistani student who is on trial for the ax murder of a fellow classmate. The case is engulfed in controversy due to the racial implications that have been grabbing the headlines and dividing the country. This added hype gives jurors a bigger picture to ponder as they decide the fate of the accused. Derek Jacobi gives a standout performance representing the defense.

We have been very impressed with The Jury. Not really knowing what to expect, we started watching this television series with an open mind, but were soon completely engrossed. The plot follows a group of jurors as they sit on a difficult murder case involving a young Sikh boy accused of murdering a school fellow. Issues of racism, bullying and antagonism arise in the ensuing drama.
This is a fast paced, clever, well-written and well-acted TV drama, better than most films you're likely to see. The cast consists of such excellent actors as Anthony Sher, Derek Jakobi and Gerard Butler (of Phantom Of The Opera fame) and can't be faulted. I really do recommend this as a great Saturday night in!

US director Michael Moore's anti-Bush documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" has beaten 18 other films to win the best film award at the Cannes festival. The movie delves into the Iraq war and accuses the President George W Bush of liaising with major Saudi Arabian families, including the Bin Ladens. Moore uses his ironic style to accuse the US ruler of manipulating the 2000 presidential elections, not heeding terrorism warnings before the September 11th attacks in 2001 and scaring Americans...
