    Back to the firing range

In case you haven't realised (and the description hardly makes this clear), this is a mini-series of 8 episodes, supplied on two discs. It's not a movie as such.

If, like me, you sat down to watch this expecting a polished Hollywood affair, the low-budget, obviously made-for-TV opening might disappoint. It did me.

However, stick with it until the second or third episode and things do improve. Whilst you begin to wonder 'how on earth are the writers going to make this story last for 8 episodes?' they do actually manage to pull it off.

I'll leave the discussion of the story to someone else, but I will say this - all the characters need to go back to a firing range. There are many occasions where both sides in a gun-battle are armed with automatic weapons and a seemingly endless supply of ammunition. But, despite firing at each other at near point-blank range, no-one seems to get hit. Amazing...

    pure tv gold

i am gobsmacked at how good this is. the story should have run out of gas way before the end but it doesnt & the writers seem to have squeezed every last drop from the scenario.this grips from the moment you hit play & doesnt let up i watched all 8 episodesd in 1 night

    Starts off alright

First episode is fine - good storyline (seen similar plots tough). Then comes the second episode - revisits the first and then adds 10 mins of plot in 45 mins - getting a little dull. Episode 3 revisits episodes 1 and 2 but adds only 5 mins of plit in 45 mins. See where I'm going. The Fast Forward button is seeing some action now!

By episode 5 - complete tangents and about 2 mins of valid plot and some other dross. This is a con, I'm thinking to myself. Need new batteries for the remote! Lost the will to live so GAVE UP. I really couldn't care what happened!

Typical American TV clap trap. If you like cr*p like LOST then you will like this. If you like cr@p like BIG BROTHER at 3am you'll love this.

    Enjoyable endurance!

This movie has good production values, despite being made for TV, and a smattering of well known faces rather than stars. What it lacks is pace.

Films designed for theatrical release have a couple of hours for an introduction, plot development and a conclusion. Scriptwriters and the directors have to work to a time constaint. If they overrun much will end up on the cutting room floor leaving an unsatisfactory often confusing film. In a TV mini series like Kill Point this constraint is not there, in fact it may be neccessary to extend and pad the film to fill the requisite number of episodes.

That is my only observation, to sit and watch in one viewing is not what was intended and the film does suffer, through no fault of it own. It is not a 'Lost' however. The story does at least reach a conclusion.

The story was good, the characters were rounded- and even some political points were made. Take it as value for money entertainment and its worth a look.

    Very definately made for TV

Made for TV mini series in 8 episodes. OK, its got some great actors in it, but dont expect the Sopranos or The Wire (despite having Omar and Bodie in it), this is very definately at the NCIS/CSI level. The characters are quite one dimensional and any questions are answered very quickly (except Donnie's obsession with grammar), so doesnt take too much thinking about. It's not a series you'd want to watch again and again.

The story's OK, but the nature of the US tv series means that the tension is caused by cliffhangers and very obvious ads breaks rather than creative writing or original storyline. That said it is entertaining and you do get all 8 episodes on 2 dvd's, so its good value for money, but its not 24 or Heat.

Personally, if you want tension and a bank job 'Inside Man' is a much better film and as for TV, stick with 24 or The Wire for better characters, dialogue, production and plot.

Not what I expected, It was better

I rented this on the thought that it was a film so sat down to watch and reallalised after I was well hooked that they are in 45 Min episodes. This led into a 4 1/2 hour epic journey as I watched the first 6 one after the other. The only reason I did not finish all 8 in one day is that I ran out of time in the day. It was gripping and every episode had the hook to make you want to just watch the next one straight away.

I am so glad I got this on DVD rental as I would be gutted if I had to wait a week for the next installment.

I will not give the plot away but the description does not do it jusice. The only thing I would say is if you were thinking this was a film like myself then be prepared to loose 6 hours of your life as you will want to see the next one and the next one and the next one.
