Casey Affleck's portral of Lou Ford is fantastic and has great depth of character. If you've read the festival reviews about the violence, don't be put off watching this. Yes, there are some uncomfortable scenes, but these go to show Ford as deeply disturbed. However, at times during the film, you will find yourself thinking he can get away with it.
Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson provide great supporting roles.
Superb cinematography by Marcel Zyskind and excellent score help to transport you to 1950s small town Texas.
A future classic.
