    Huzzah

A Musketeer movie in all but name. There's loyality, betrayal, spoilt princesses, resourceful handmaidens and flashing blades aplenty. Obviously made on a shoestring ( most of the money seems to have gone on the costumes)this still delivers more 'en garde' per buck than most B flicks. Only gripe is that some of the sword play seems a little tame but that's probably because I've been sword-fight-spoiled by high octane Chinese stuff like 'House of Flying Daggers'. But overall this is good, simple swashbuckling fun. The storyline is totally basic with elements of The Magnifcent Seven & Rio Bravo thrown in so don't go expecting a historically accurate, complex plot. Just sit back and induldge your chivalry.

Agree with previous about it being a swash buckler in the style of The Three Musketeers.

Definitely a Sunday afternoon style movie.

I personally got tired of the overlong seige/fight scene - which seemed like at least 75% of the running time. More storyline would have gained it more stars. Lesley Anne Down was listed in the top 3 main actors but was only in it a short while.

    Swordplay silliness

The king's guard accompany the princess on her journey to marry a neighbouring king. On the journey they are attacked by brigands who wish to steal the princess and her dowry. That's the plot-and all that occurs in the first 10 minutes!

There are some good sword fight scenes, some witty dialogue delivered by the good guys and a running gag about a hat, but that's about it. Set somewhere in Europe, the predominantly American casts accents wander all over the place, especially that of Eric Roberts-who is greatly under used and whilst bringing a nice sence of menace whenever he is on screen, spends much of the movie leaning against a tree!

Not a bad movie, just one that could have been a lot better if more money had been spent on it! For fans of B movies-and almost worth renting just for the bloopers reel at the end which is more entertaining than the film itself!

What was I on renting this?

This was utter garbage. Avoid it. Appaling acting, script and sets compliment lousy fight seqences. I never relised films could be this bad

    Oh dear oh dear...

This film seems to want to emulate the classic Princess Bride but fails utterly.

The attempts at humour are flat. The whole look is one of bunch of guys and gals poncing about in poor quality fancy dress in California back country, rather than a believable fantasy world.

The sword fights are numerous but pedestrian, next time they should call in Mike Loades to inject some realism and edge to the fencing.

The only quality element comes from the cast, not their acting you understand, but there are some damn good-looking lads to distract you from the shambles around them. I don't doubt the lasses are cute too.

we shall never be the same again

WATCH THIS FILM. It’s a must!!

This film changed our lives. No it really did!! We shall never look at another film in the same way again. After seeing this we got our friends round and made them watch it as well. We’re sure they appreciated us sharing such a piece of modern film history.
